Common questions

How do I scan a page?: Tap New Book, then hold the phone over the page so it fills the guide frame. The frame turns green when text is found; tap the text button and the recognized text is added to the book. Tap the image button instead to keep a photo of the page (a diagram, for example).
The recognized text has mistakes.: Recognition depends on light, focus and angle. Hold the phone flat over the page in good light and wait for focus before tapping. Naming the book's language (scanner toolbar, or the book's details) helps with mixed-language pages. Pro users can edit the text of any page.
A page comes out in the wrong order, or a sidebar is mixed in.: On iOS 26 and later the app analyzes the page layout to read columns and sidebars in order. If a page still reads wrong, turn off "Analyze page layout" in Settings and scan it again; the simpler line-by-line mode is sometimes better for unusual layouts.
What is a chapter, and how do pages join up?: When you add a page you can choose Add Page (it continues the previous page, joining a paragraph split across the page break) or Add as New Chapter. Chapters are listed in the reader's index. Auto Scan always continues the current chapter.
Auto Scan stops saying "same page".: Auto Scan waits until the picture is steady and clearly different from the last page it added. Keep the phone still for a moment after turning the page. If it never adds a page, the frame may be catching too little text — move closer so the page fills the guide.
How do highlights work?: In the reader, long-press to select text and choose Highlight. Tap a highlight to change its color, add a note, or remove it. The list button in the reader shows chapters and all highlights; tap one to jump to it. Highlights are included in the PDF export.
Where are my books stored?: On your device. With iCloud sync on (Settings), they are also kept in your own iCloud and appear on your other devices signed in with the same Apple Account. Nothing is sent to us — we have no servers.
What does Pro include, and is it a subscription?: Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes the 10-pages-per-book limit and adds Auto Scan, PDF export and text editing. To restore it on a new device, open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases.
The price doesn't appear on the Pro screen.: The app asks the App Store for the price when the screen opens. Check your connection and tap Try Again; if it keeps failing, sign out and back in to the App Store in the iOS Settings app.
